Skateboarding

Carter is in skateboard haze. Have you ever heard of this? It is where all he thinks about is skating. If he isn't begging to go to the skate park or any of his other favorite places to skate, he is flipping whatever is in his hands like a skateboard. He has been bugging us to find skating competitions. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Well, he heard at school that Saturday was one of these competitions. We were leary of it because it was a rumor at school. Aaron took him to the skate park and checked it out. It was indeed a competition. He needed a helmet (good thing Mom was smart enough to suggest taking one), and a parental signature and $10. Aaron signed him up and left. I feel bad that neither of us could be there, but he kept us well informed by cell phone. He did a great job, 26 out of about 50 kids. Mostly, he had a great time, and now he knows how it works and when they all are. He is also saving for Skate camp this summer in California, so anyone who needs a good babysitter, give him a call.

Sounds like a skater I once knew from an older generation. At least your kid won't have a mullet and coke bottle glasses like our brother, I mean the skater I remember.

I used to be just like Carter. I spent all my time on a skateboard. We had a quarter pipe in our front yard. You need to have Aaron build him a half pipe in your enormous back yard. --Andrew

You learn something new every day. Skateboard competitions at your very own skate park? Who Knew?!

What extreme activity will be next?
