Memorial Day

I have always loved Memorial Day. I love going to the Riverton Cemetery and listening to the names of all the veterans buried there. I love being with family.

This year was a little different. The program at the cemetery was the same. They read the names and sang the songs. They still did the 21 gun salute and the kids still scrambled for the brass shells. They even still played taps on the trumpet. But one thing was missing.

My Mom.

Oh she was there, but just not the same. Her headstone is more beautiful than I thought. It is perfect for her, except one thing; she would be embarrassed that it is so big. I loved seeing all her brothers and sisters. They remind me of her. I forget that they miss her too. They are a great support to all of us and help us understand things we don't.

Of course yesterday it was covered in flowers. I forgot my camera.
While in Utah Carter turned 13! Lord help me, I have a teenager. He has wanted to go to skateboard camp this summer, so , we surprised him with his registration to go. He is so excited. It is Camp Woodward in CA and it is a week long. Am I nervous? Of course. 14 thirteen year old boys sharing a cabin, I am concerned. Except he is the best kid in the world. Between skate camp, scout camp and vacations, I think he will sleep in his bed 10 nights all summer. That's a good summer!

We really had a great time in Utah. Despite many tears. I love being with family, it makes everything bearable. We all got to go for a ride on Monday morning. Troy, Aaron, Meg, Kelli and me. We even ran into my Dad and Noma at the Maverick in Herriman. Too funny. Thanks guys!

Thanks for coming and having to put up with a whole lot of drama. We were so glad to have you here. My kids are already asking when you are coming again and they are counting down the days.

Next time, bikeride again? Troy couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had.
