When I started the journey to train for this tri, I knew I needed to work very hard. I also knew that it would occupy my mind a little and keep me busy. I really needed something to focus on other than my Mom. I knew I had lost almost everything I had done for my other tri in June. When I found out that the ride was point to point, uphill all 12.7 miles, I wanted to cry. I knew my time wouldn't be as good as last time, so, I decided that I was going to have fun. Anything above that was a bonus. I actually feel really good about my times. I pushed way harder in the water and swam it 8 min faster than last time. The ride was hard, but not as bad as I had anticipated. It was actually a blast. I did it in 1hr 10 min. When it came to my run, I ran out of ump. Literally. I had nothing left. My time was horrible, 36 min, but I was so glad to finish and be done. Today I feel like I can accomplish just about anything. I also feel excited to do it again. Here are a few pics, sorry they are all of me. I am kinda embarrassed.
This is the before shot. Cindy, Back of Jenny's head, Me with a banana (no comment Keli), Janette.
I was happy to be out of the water.
We rode for like a mile and a half in a drainage wash. 3 tunnels and some switchbacks. It was fun.
Gracie was blowing me kisses, so I blew one back. I was at the finish and never so glad to be there.
This is the after. Rach, Me, Janette, Jenny and Jaycee. Cindy was still pushing along.
I was so thankful for these. Do you think there were enough?
Do you think these ants are big enough?
The very best part, was coming around a corner and seeing all of my family cheering me on. The kisses that were blown, and the waves and screaming were the bomb!! They have really been so good to put up with all the training. The Saturday morning rides, the late night swims, and the slacker Mom duties like Laundry, cleaning, cooking........ I love you guys! Thank you so much. And thanks to my Mom for pushing me along. I missed her today.
