Happy New Year

I have always had this great logic with New Year's resolutions, "If you don't write them down it isn't as bad when you don't complete them." I know, Aaron thinks it is stupid too. He on the other hand is the king of goals and resolutions. Not just making them, but he really makes a new start every January. While I am sticking to my dumb excuse to not tell anyone or write down my low expectation goals for 2008, I thought I would summarize 2007.

  • January-Bed rest for three weeks. Many trips to the hospital. No Baby.

  • February-One of the 4 greatest things that has ever happened to me. Gracie was born.

  • March-RSV and horrible postpartum.

  • April-Gracie's first trip to Utah for Easter.

  • May-Carter turned 11, enjoying BMX and got his Arrow of Light! Gracie was blessed.

  • June-Meg came to visit. Olivia turned 7! Carter went to his first dance. Long trips to Utah. Nunns house and the Cabin.

  • July-A parade and a trip to the cabin for the 4th. We got Chester. Lots of swimming. Casey's leukemia came back.

  • August-Spent a lot of time hanging out at the hospital. One last trip to Utah for the summer. Kids start school.

  • September-Air conditioner broke. Funnest trip ever to Seattle.

  • October-Trip to Utah. McKinley turned 9!

  • November-Gracie crawled. Had a great thanksgiving.

  • December-Aaron loses his mind. Lots of parties, recitals, and sicknesses.

I must say 2007 was a good year. Gracie brought more joy to our family than I could ever tell you. We had our struggles, and most of them don't end at the stroke of midnight, darn it. But the nice thing is that life goes on and we have a new year to look forward too. There are a few wishes I have for 2008:

  • No Leukemia
  • Healthy family
  • Move home (yeah right, I thought I would try)
  • Grow in the gospel
  • Teach my kids

I'm sure their are more, but this post is long enough. We had an awesome New Year's Eve party last night, and of course I took some video, so here it is (Gracie was sound asleep, and slept through it all!).

The party looked fun! We were so sad to miss it this year! I agree aobut the resolutions- but that's why I write mine down, if I write it tends to be more likely to get done. Then after about 2 or 3 weeks they loose the novelty and die!!

Thanks again for a great party Jill--we had alot of fun.

I liked your year in review and I agree that it's easier to keep resolutions to yourself, that way no one knows if you mess up!!

Would you really move home if you got the chance? And what exactly is Aaron doing in that last picture?

I can't believe that's a picture of Gracie! She looks so different now! Still cute, though. Sorry we missed you when you left. I guess it will be a while before I see you again. Sniff sniff. Give your kids hugs and kisses for me!

Jill, I look at Becky Earl's blog often. I found her thru links on our nephew's blog and Stephanie Johnson's blog - she does amazing work and hard to believe she only started last year!
