Today I did something I have never done before. I attended the Nevada Republican Caucus. I had no idea what it was going to be like, I just knew that in church on Sunday they asked us to attend. I actually learned a lot. Apparently it is something I should have been attending all these years. This year they bumped up our Caucus before Super Tuesday so our vote actually counts. (I really don't know what I'm talking about, but this is what Aaron told me.) The precinct we are in was full of people we know. I bet 95% of them were LDS. You could tell it really pissed off the people who always attend and usually are in charge. They called for a volunteer for precinct Chair. The guy trying to be in charge totally wanted to be the Chair, but everyone suggested that Andrew be the Chair. It was so funny. The guy was mad and tried to take Andrew's job, but Andrew held his own and did a great job. We had to vote for 9 Delegates from our Precinct to represent us at the county level and some even had the possibility to go to the National level. It was kinda a joke, but interesting. 6 out of the 9 were LDS. When they finally read the votes, Mitt Romney kicked butt. He had like 58 of the votes, the next candidate had like 7. It was really a good learning experience.
The best thing of all was when we left the school, there was a man outside holding a sign that said, "Ezra Taft Benson would have voted for Ron Paul!" We were laughing so hard. I wish I had a picture.

When Andrew came home this morning and said he was voted caucus chair I thought he was joking at first! He said it was a good experience..
Like Napoleon's grandma, I think I broke my "caucus" at the dunes! --Andrew
Way to go and be politically involved! I am embarassed to even admit this but I have NEVER even voted for ANYTHING! We just read that Romney won Nevada and we were sure that all our LDS friends there had something to do with it.
Way to let your voice be heard! Sounds like you guys were having a ward party instead of a caucus.
I keep trying to understand all this political stuff and am not doing very well! But that sounds like it was a lot of fun, and I'm sure you learned a lot being there!
Grandpa Johnson would be so proud!
