I know there will be a lot of President Hinkley posts today, but I really wanted to write down my feelings.

Saturday night we were at a friends house, Brian and Leslie, and they had the neatest picture of President Hinkley. We made a comment about it and continued talking about what a great man he is and that it will be a really hard day when he dies. Last night, about 7:15, I was getting Gracie in the tub and my phone rang. Carter handed me the phone and said it was Leslie. All she said was, "Do you remember that conversation we had last night about President Hinkley?" My heart sank, and I knew what had happened. It is amazing how word travels. I immediately called my family in Utah, and they didn't even know.
These are my memories of HIM:
- Who could forget the Walnut Tree. That conference when he told the story and got all choked up about it.
- He was the most optimistic man. I read a quote in the SL Tribune "You look with Optimism, work with faith, and things happen".
- So many Temples.
- I loved that he always had a sense of humor and he cried a lot. Two great characteristics for a man.
- I met him at a cousins wedding. They had a family reception before the real reception and he came. We all were in awe, and kinda lined up toward the door. He came through and shook all of our hands, he kept saying to his wife come on Mother. She was much slower and he didn't let her get out of hand holding distance. It was so cute.
- There are so many words of encouragement and guidance that have affected my life and my families life.
- I can't believe he has been Prophet almost as long as I have been married.
I am sure you are all like me and feel like you have lost a member of your family. I feel like we should be getting ready to attend a funeral. My favorite Quote:
"Be true to who you are and the family name you bear."

I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of the same picture - the one where he's wearing a hat? One of my favorite pictures of him. He will be greatly missed.
I love that picture. What a great man! We heard the news while traveling home from AZ last night and there was a sense of loosing a family memeber. Can you imagine what his reunion might have been like in heaven though!!
Thanks for reminding me of some of those moments in his life. I loved the 9 B's he gave us: Be Clean, Be True, Be Positive, Be Careful, Be Smart, Be Involved, Be Humble, Be Still, Be Prayerful.
great tribute. Yeah, I've been wanting that picture of him in the hat. NOBODY would ever tell me where they got it. Jenn thinks it might have been published in the Ensign. He will always hold a special place in all of our hearts - and we'll be in love again with a new prophet before you know it.
The best picture of President Hinckley is when he is at BYU announcing that the stadium would be re-named "LaVell Edwards Stadium Home of the BYU Cougars." BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYUBYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU BYU
