You buy them school clothes and........

You all remember the first day of school. I always had the "first day" outfit picked out from the moment my mom and I got home from shopping. McKinley is the same way. This year she had 3 outfits she was trying to decide between. Carter, he really didn't have a choice, "should I wear the blue shirt or the red one?". Then there is Olivia. Oh my Olivia. Have any of you ever read the Oliva books? These were written after the author met my Olivia. In the book, she is a pig, she is very easy going, and will wear her mothers pantyhose and not blink an eye at it. Well, my Olivia wore a new outfit the first day, the second day she wore an outfit that wasn't old, but we didn't buy it for school. I decided it wasn't worth the fight and just let her wear it. The third day, I drug her out of bed and got her dressed myself in a cute little outfit with palm trees and pineapples. So cute. On Thursday she came out of her room with holey jean Capri's, and a shirt that required a tank underneath. She couldn't find a tank, so she just put a T shirt under it that was too big. You can imagine the bulging of the T out of the shirt. I made her change. Today she came in my room and said "Mom, does this match?". Now let me just warn all of you, if Olivia says this to you; run. She obviously gets her matching ability from her father. (see previous post "Are you going to wear that?") She had on some sage green Capri's passed down from McKinley, with a turquoise shirt from last summer. This was a fight I was willing to fight. I explained to her that she had 7, count them 7, new outfits hanging in the front of her closet that were new and for school. I had made many trips to Justice and Limited Too for these girls to look nice at school and by golly she was going to wear them. She ended up in a cute little outfit and all was well.

Note for next year: don't buy Olivia anything new, just rearrange her closet.

Amen Jill---I'm sure battling 2 girls and their clothes is harder than one though. Taylor has a matching problem, but this year her fights are all about her shoes. She got 3 new pair for school that she HAD to have, and after wearing them the first 3 days, got blisters and vows she doesn't want to wear them again because they make her feet hurt. Oh, little girls...

The pitures are so cute. You do look really tan. I love Carter's shoe laces. I don't know why I bought new school clothes either. Max is the only one that will wear them. I would never guess that Olivia was like that. The new shoes were all a hit though.

That is my Emma. She doesn't care what she wears. She actually tried wearing the same outfit twice in a row last week. We only bought her a few new clothes because everything from last year still fits her, and I'm expecting a growth spurt any moment now. Now Maggie, that's a different story....

Ashlee is the same way as Olivia with clothes. Maybe it's a 2nd daughter thing. Lexi loves her new clothes, Ashlee is fine with Lexi's hand me downs and junky blister free shoes. They love the slip on shoes at Old Navy, so I bought them a few- they have worn each pair once and came home saying they are never wearing them again!
