The Holidays!

I can't title this page "Christmas", because I am such a blog slacker lately. Not that many of you care, but I do. I was laying in bed the other night thinking about how bad I am at preserving my kids childhood. This is the only thing I have going for them, and I'm not very good at this either! So, one of my goals this year is to be better at writing things down for them.

We had a wonderful Christmas. I was really worried about it. Thanksgiving was probably the hardest holiday I've had since my Mom died. It made me really worry about if I should just start something new for Christmas. I really did a lot of begging to the Lord to help me figure it out. He did, of course. We spent Christmas morning at my Dad's. He and Noma were great hosts. I was very grateful to Meg and Josh for staying there with us. The kids of course got up at 5:00am and were given two 30 min warnings. Of course I had already been up waiting for them. They have to come down the stairs in order of youngest to oldest. Gracie doesn't move very fast at 6:00am, especially down stairs. The older kids couldn't stand it. Eventually they made it down.
I am learning as they get older that gifts are smaller and more expensive. We have always had breakfast together on Christmas morning. This year we decided that we can always do that, but now we are going to do it at Troy's. It was so perfect. We hung out at there all day until we left for the Johnson's at 4:00.
We always have good food and make a big mess at June's. Liesl got bump-it's. So jealous! She jumped up and down, it was awesome. Tyson and Lauren made a stop at our house a few days before Christmas and dropped off some presents. They gave McKinley a Snuggie. I think it was her favorite gift.

We took advantage of having snow around and went sledding on Saturday. Thanks to Devey's. The kids had a blast. Gracie loved the snow. I couldn't get her to go inside. Her face was bright red and she almost had frost bite. Finally we turned off the 4 wheelers and she had to come inside.
We had a fun New Years. Rented a jumper/slide for the kiddies and played games with friends. We celebrated with New York so that we could send the little ones to bed. Of course my older kids outlasted me. Chad and Shayna spent a few days with us. We got crab legs at Mandalay Bay, yum! Now is the time for the diet.

For all the harrassment you used to give me on updating my blog- I'm glad you finally updated yours! It's so crazy to see these pictures of your kids- I can't believe how big they are! Gracie is a doll- the others are cute too, but you know the yougest just melts the heart!
I'm so glad Christmas was a little easier for you, I have wondered how it would be if my mom remarried and we had to celebrate with someone else.... thanks for showing that it can be done!
