Saturday I was at Wal-Mart. Saturday, as in the day after Halloween. I was in a hurry and focused on the task at hand. Suddenly, I heard it! Could it possibly be? Christmas music? I have been anticipating that first moment that Christmas snuck (is that a word) into my life. A moment I was uneasy about. I really didn't know how that would make me feel.
How did it make me feel?
Well, I first thought of my Mom, of course. I had a little tear (not the first time I have cried in Wal-Mart). But then I felt like buying someone a gift!! The response I am sure is the reason to the Christmas music playing before Thanksgiving is even over.
Carter has started Christmas songs on the piano. I love it. My Mom loved to listen to him play. I just don't think it gets any harder than to hear him master Greensleeves and Oh Come all ye Faithful. She would be so proud.
I know the next couple months will be filled with small tears. Here and there, Wal-Mart or wherever. It is the most wonderful time of the year. She would be mad if we looked at it any other way.

i know what you mean about thanksgiving being skipped - i was at galleria mall yesterday and they have all of their christmas decor up. it looks really festive and pretty but really? it's barely november. the stores are a little excited this year.
I LOVE Christmas, but I was also a bit bugged by the early music this year at Wal-Mart. Mostly because I know they want my money sooner. By the end of my shopping I was getting into it. Enjoy the season, and know your Mom will be humming Christmas tunes with you.
We were at Walfart Saturday night and Andrew of course picked up on the Christmas music right away and was singing along. It does bug me though how the week of Halloween all the Christmas stuff is being put up in stores and Thanksgiving gets skipped over.
I may not be very popular after this comment, but it drives me CUH-RAZY to have 2 full months of Christmas. One holiday at a time, people! If I start hearing Christmas music on November 1st, then by the time Christmas actually rolls around, I'm completely sick of it. And I don't want to be sick of it! I like Christmas music! I want to ENJOY the festive ambiance on Christmas Day - not be anxious to rip down the lights.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Your Dad had Christmas music on in the office. I am not quite ready for that yet. However, that would have been the first thing your mom did.
I too grumbled at the early Christmas music, I mean the day after Halloween...But then I woke up to a layer of white.
The music just felt right.
Shed those tears, it's healthy no matter where you are. Have you ever been crying driving down the road and thought to yourself...People are staring at me! I always think "Get over it people, you see crying women all the time"
