Piano, Leprechaun and Blue Man

Last Saturday Carter played in the Jr Festival piano competition at UNLV. It was his 3rd year. Both previous years he received a Superior (the highest). It works on a points system, Superiors are worth 5 points, so at 15 points you get a trophy. He was really prepared. Neither of us were even worried. He played beautiful, and received another Superior! Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy his piano playing? So, he will be receiving his trophy shortly! Good job Cart!

On St Patricks Day the leprechaun visited. Gracie thought it was great! He left footprints from the doggie door, over the table and island, through the pantry into the dining room, where he finally left a stash of gold. And some Lucky Charms for breakfast. The night before when Aaron and I ran into the "leprechaun" we had a very depressing realization, we still have about 13 more years of leprechaun visits. Wow! Ok stop laughing now.

The girls have been working extremely hard at music ensemble at the school to get ready for their performance on Thursday night. The each performed on the instruments and then McKinley played in her drum corps group. She is the only girl that is strong enough to play the tri drum. She loves it! After drums they headed backstage to prepare for the final event. The one they had practiced so hard for. Mr Weigand our music specialist at school has done it at another school. Our principal has been begging him to do it again, so, he decided this was the group to do it with. They all had painted faces that glowed in black light. There were 3 Blue Men just like the show. They played drums with paint, pounded on huge PVC pipes just like the show. It was so awesome. I don't even have good pictures, I was too far away. I know both girls were very relieved it was over. It was McKinley's last performance with Mr Weigand. All the reality of 5th grade starts to set in about now. Holy Cow, Jr high is coming! I just found a good recording of the performance on my friend Stacey's blog! Check it out here.

I didn't realize your girls were in it. The face paint threw me off on everyone I ran into. They were AWESOME. Tell them they were the highlight of the show and will be talked about for years to come.

Now why didn't we ever have a visit from the Leprechaun?! That is such a cute idea. Of course my children are well past that age now. Oh well, there's always grandchildren.
