Torture Chamber

My sweet little Gracie had to go to the dentist yesterday. They can sedate her and give her gas, but I was still really worried. I could just see the fit the minute they stuck a needle in her mouth. They gave her some happy juice the second we got there. It takes an hour to take effect. So we read books for an hour. She got really sleepy. When we got back to the room she was very cooperative. She got a little nervous when he lowered the chair and tilted her back. Then they put the pink nose on (the gas). It was magic. She didn't move.

He was only going to do one side. A root canal and crown, then 3 cavities. When the patient after her came he had eaten breakfast so he couldn't be sedated. He asked if I wanted to get it all done in one visit instead of 2. Heck yes. So he started on the other side. 3 cavities. Easy right? Yep, until she decided she had had enough. The last 2 cavities were drilled and she was done. She started grabbing at stuff and kicking. We had to hold her down while he finished. It was so traumatic. She had a plastic thing covering her whole mouth because she was breathing out of her nose to get the gas. She was screaming, trying to breath out of her mouth but couldn't. It was so awful. He finished really fast and took everything off and let me pick her up. She wouldn't even look at him! But he gave her 2 rubber gloves and 2 plastic fish. That made it a little better. Maybe that will teach her that cavities aren't a good thing!

So now she has a beautiful mouth. Cavity free. Hooray!! I'm still glad I did it all in one day. I am so done at the dentist for 6 months. Just in time for the baby to come!

You have to be a special breed of evil to be a dentist. :) Except Matt, of course.

It breaks my heart to think of Gracie being tortured at the dentist. Man, now I see why mom couldn't take us as kids. That's awful!

Oooooh, poor little girl! And poor mama! I'm sure it was so hard to see her like that. You are one tough cookie.

Wow, what do you feed that child? Just kidding, that is one heck of a visit to the dentist. Good luck getting her to go back.
We just had to do the hold down thing with Henry last week when Brian gave him stiches, not fun!
